Our History

The ACTA Foundation was founded in 1957 by five priests of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago who were committed to fostering new initiatives in adult catechesis. Their pastoral vision for building up the faith of adults began with the publication in 1951 of A Catechism for Adults by Fr. Wm. Cogan. As other catechetical publications followed a Foundation was eventually established that today supports new pastoral efforts in the spirit of the founders.

What do we do?

The ACTA Foundation supports creative efforts in adult catechesis by awarding grants to those who meet the criteria established by the ACTA Board. You can review a grant application here.
